Miniature studies — Malé, Maldives

Small models,
quiet details.

Gaafolhu builds miniature studies of Maldivian vernacular — houses, dhonis, coral mosques and island dioramas. Built by hand, drawn to scale, kept as evidence.

Who we are

Most miniature work looks like a toy. Ours is meant to look like evidence — a record of how an island is actually put together.

Every study starts with a survey — a house measured, a hull traced, a street walked — and ends as a model that answers questions about structure, proportion and the quiet logic of building on a reef.

Testimonials

Words from

The Kalhuvakaru study sits in my office and people touch it before they greet me. The joinery is that convincing.
Ahmed N.Private collector — Malé
He walked our guesthouse twice, measured everything, and the model found details we had stopped seeing. Guests photograph it daily.
Mariyam S.Guesthouse host — Fulhadhoo
The dome, the minaret, the stone banding — all read exactly. It is the clearest record of the building I have seen.
