Medhu Ziyaaraiy

Study of the central tomb where Abu al-Barakat Yusuf al-Barbari — the scholar said to have brought Islam to the Maldives in 1153 — is buried, across the street from the Friday Mosque. The mausoleum took its present form during the reign of Muhammad Shamsuddeen III in the early 1900s. The model takes in the blue-and-white gateway, the carved timber grille and the slender finial that mark the shrine beside Muliaage.
